About

Bossa 31 Bellingham SeattleBrazilian chill. Parisian cool. Nova bossa nova. With intricate guitar, driving drums and smooth electronics, BOSSA 31 creates the very pulse of Brazilian samba and jazz, giving it a fresh spin for the 21st century. From breakneck bossas to beautiful ballads, BOSSA 31 brings to life the enchanting melodies and exciting rhythms of Brazilian music and international jazz.

After collaborating in the Zumbido Trio, they’re together again for this NEW project; John Miller (guitars) and Joel Litwin (percussion, vocals, electronics) bring forth the works of Jobim, Powell, Gilberto, Bill Evans and other masterful Brazilian and international composers, as well as BOSSA 31 originals.

John Miller is a “completely badass groover;” an “unbelievable guitar player,” according to PureMusic.com, while the Mission Folk Music Festival calls Joel Litwin a “veritable percussionist extraordinaire.” Bossa 31 creates the perfect environment for chilling, dining, listening and just being.

John & Joel have played in countless musical groups in their varied careers, performing at some of the finest venues in North America and abroad, including Seattle’s Paramount Theater, Ottawa Folk Festival, Mt. Fuji Bluegrass Festival (Japan) and the Sibelius Academy (Finland). In their various groups, they have opened for or co-billed with top international performers, including Milton Nascimento, Richard Thompson, Jean-Luc Ponty, David Grisman and Beausoleil.
