Graphic Design – Redcandle Photography & Design
Graphic design is the workhorse of marketing, and likely my favorite part. I’ve designed countless promotional pieces and campaigns, including:
CD / DVD Design
Flyers & Brochures
Letterhead & Marketing Collateral
Trade Show Displays
… and more
Coupled with my marketing and advertising backgrounds, I can fine tune your designs to effectively and efficiently achieve your goals.
I also have extensive experience with printers, sign makers and installers and can coordinate with them to seamlessly guide your design project.
What Makes Good Graphic Design?
Well, that’s a good question! Ask 10 designers and you’ll likely get 10 different answers. I personally think good design is a delicate balance of art and science, of beauty and information. I believe good design calls for visually- and emotionally-compelling artwork that attracts the eye of the viewer, and clear, concise information that earns the viewer’s interest.
And every project is different. Sometimes the situation may call for more of an emphasis on the beauty part, and sometimes the emphasis may need to be more on the information part. It depends on the objectives of each project.
People’s lives are busier than ever, and there is more and more competition for everyone’s attention. I’m a big proponent of white space and places for the eye to rest. Depending on the amount of information to be conveyed, this can sometimes be a fun challenge, and it’s one of many things that makes design such an exciting and enriching endeavor.
My decades of experience in marketing & sales help me, I believe, to strike a healthy balance between beauty and efficacy when it comes to design. Things depend on many factors, including medium (print, web, TV, etc.), size, ad frequency, visibility, placement, target demographics & needs, branding, et.al. Communication with my clients is key to creating a good design for the specific usage.
Graphic design to me is always fascinating and each project is like a unique puzzle. A compelling blend of art and science, of right brain and left brain, of technique and psychology. What’s not to love?
I hope I have the opportunity to work with you on a project.
